Dear Explorer Families,
Adam Spina has requested a leave for the 2015-16 school year and has accepted a position as principal of an international school in Spain. This leave will afford him the opportunity to live and work in the community where his wife currently resides.
During Dr. Spina's leave, I will be serving as the interim principal for Explorer Elementary. I am delighted to be returning to the building where I worked for the first 17 years of my teaching career! I have spent the past seven years at the middle school where I taught language arts before moving into the role of instructional coach and MTSS coordinator for the district.
I want to assure you that in spite of Adam's leave, Explorer Elementary remains committed to our mission of instructional excellence and engaged learning for all students . Though the opening day is still a few weeks away, our teachers are already laying the foundation for another great school year. Some are beginning to work in their rooms, while others are engaging in various professional learnings including the Blended Learning Tech Camp and the Arts Integration Institute. Additionally, our school leadership team will meet next week to plan for the opening days of school and beyond. Lastly, our placement team will be meeting for a final time on August 25 to review and finalize student placements. Letters will be mailed home on August 26.
I look forward to welcoming everyone back in September. In the meantime, feel free to contact me. I hope everyone continues to enjoy this beautiful summer!
